Hello guys,

I order a 2TB barracuda driver, but instead I got (for the same price) a 2 TB Constallation ES.2 SED (PN: ST32000646NS)

Can it be used in a normal desktop PC? I dont want to use SED, can this Self-encrypting feture be turned off? If I plug this HDD on another computer will I be able to read it or all data inside it would be encypted?

Reguardin performace, vibration and noise, is it much worst then a regular barracuda?

Usually enterprise HDD should be more reliable, but considering this is probably a refurbish HDD, should I be worry? THe date of manufature is 05/2012, but the sticker on the plastic bag says something like "PASS" and and the plastic bag has "06-2016" written it.

So botton line, can I use this HDD just like if it were a regular barracuda or should I return it? I don't know if I'm lucky for getting a enterprice HDD for the price of a cunsumer HDD or if there is something more into this.

Thanks for any help!

Solution
you can use it like a regular hhd, about performance they should be similar both are 7200 rpm and have 64 mb cache. About encrypting you can turn this feature off from your bios.
