Can you update BIOS from a USB drive

So, I've been looking at building a PC from scratch (first time) and I've been looking at Ryzen processors. I found a motherboard I liked, but on finding out Ryzen 2 would be out in April, I naturally decided to wait a bit for the next gen. So, if I bought a motherboard for a 1st gen Ryzen CPU, can I update its bios by using a USB drive to work with a newer Ryzen 2 CPU? What I mean by this is downloading the Bios update files onto my laptop, transferring them to a drive and plugging it into the system. And remember I'm building from scratch so (as far as I know) you can't just download the files. Thanks for those who answer

Solution
Usually, only high end boards feature the flashback. I suggest waiting for the new CPUs and maybe new gen boards will be out by then, supporting the CPUs out of the box.

Ain't no one telling no one about this. It will first of all depend on the CPU format (rem: Intel Gen 6/7/8), then on whether AMD wants you to be able to upgrade via BIOS, and then whether the motherboard manufacturers will actually write/make available a new BIOS. At this point you have 2 choices: buy a motherboard now, and simply assume that you won't be able to upgrade, or wait and buy a new motherboard that is guaranteed/designed for the new processor. Any other choice is taking a chance.

Do you know if the ASUS Strix B350-f supports flashback? I can't find it anywhere on their specs sheet or description.

Really? Because I was going over it again and I saw something about EZ Flash 3. I looked it up, and the ASUS page on it says 'The ASUS EZ Flash 3 feature allows you to update the BIOS without using an OS‑based utility'. I'm not very experienced with building (at all) so I might be wrong.

I know you probably want to drop this by now, but do you know of any boards that support flashback or that companies version of it? I'm looking ~£100 and AM4 socket
