Hi all,

Not a hardware expert so was hoping to get some advice :). I am planning to upgrade my graphics card and was wondering how many my motherboard supports and how can I verify if a card is compatible? I can't seem to find a definite answer, but I'm possibly looking at purchasing a GTX 1050 TI and if possible, add another one later down the road.

Here are my specs:
Current GPU: 1.25GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 570
Motherboard: ASUS® P8Z77-V: PCI-E 3.0 READY, WIFI, SLI, CROSSFIREX
PSU: CORSAIR 850W ENTHUSIAST SERIES™ TX850 V2-80 PLUS® BRONZE
Case: PCS MAELSTROM T900 BLACK GAMING CASE
CPU: Intel® Core™i7 Quad Core Processor i7-3770K (3.5GHz) 8MB Cache

How many? First, the 1050ti doesn't support SLI. So you can't run two of them together. Second, I'm not sure how many total/possible because that number depends on your OS and how many creative ways you hook them up. The Z77 chipset is new enough to handle any modern GPU. But if your goal is SLI you'd have to get a different card. If your goal is mining you'll be limited by your 850W PSU, not the total number of GPUs that can be ran. (850W for 1050ti setup? A 650W could run that.)

thanks for your reply - my bad, that was an oversight. I could instead go for 2x GTX 960s, I guess I'm still going to underutilise the PSU? OS is Win10.

I thought it might be more cost-effective. I haven't done the maths, but I'd be surprised if it wasn't the case.
