Mobo won't post

Hi, brother is building a computer and we can't get it to post. We have tried just the 24-pin, CPU and 24-pin and removing the cmos battery. No lights no sounds nothing.



System

Ryzen 1600

Msi B350M Bazooka

DDR4 3000mhz

750ti superclocked

Seasonic M12 bronze 620 watts

Start with this configuration:

CPU+cooler+plug the cooler into the 4pin on the motherboard, One stick of RAM, 8 pin CPU connector from the PSU into the motherboard, 24 pin power into the motherboard. Everything else, GPU and hardrives and case fans are disconnected. Jump the motherboard or press the start button if it has one. Do you get any motherboard lights of fans spinning? Does it run for a second and then shut off? If no luck, remove the motherboard from the case and try in on a clean cardboard surface like a box. Electrical shorts can stop motherboards from starting. Make sure the power switch on the PSU is on, it's a silly mistake that can happen to anyone.

If you are 100% sure that:

- The power supply works
- The power cord is good, the wall outlet works.
- GPU and RAM work, try on another machine if possible. Try POSTing with and without them if you didn't already.

and you breadboarded and STILL didn't get lights on the motherboard or fans going even with just the 24pin and 8pin power connectors, I would RMA the motherboard at that point especially if you aren't seeing even motherboard lights.

I know the psu and GPU are good. I can't test the ram or CPU because this is the the only am4 and DDR4 Mobo we have, and this is also the second board we've received, we already rma the first one, but you know what they say third time's the charm

The board should at least power on and do nothing or give PWR standby lights even with no CPU or beep with no RAM. Processor failures are also rare. I've never had a CPU that was just dead out of the box myself. I've had to RMA things more than once before. Hopefully they will QC sticker this one or something so you know at SOME point the board ran. If the 3rd board doesn't work that will be a bit of a shock. At that point I'd try to source another AM4 CPU just to try (or get a shop diagnostic and make them try a different AM4 board and CPU).

try testing the system with a diffrent GPU, PSU, 1 stick of ram and also make sure the CPU is in correctly. My friend had the same and found out one pin was broken off of his CPU during installation.
