Stop Full-screen game from minimising when alt-tabbing?

So recently I had to reinstall Windows and after doing so it has caused something that makes me absolutely clueless. So I play H1Z1 (dead game I know) in a custom res (1600x1080) in fullscreen mode, and before this reinstall while playing I could alt tab and it would keep the game up on screen and my mouse would move to either of my other monitors, I could do what I needed to do and then click the game icon in the task-bar to return.

After the re-install, when I try to do this the whole screen goes black and completely moves me out of the game to my desktop, even though there are no other windows open on the monitor. This is a pain as having to go through that everytime I want to pause or unpause music or do other small things is extremely annoying... I have tried messing with NVIDIA settings and I couldn't make anything work. If anyone knows how I could solve this without downloading programs that don't work (Actual Multiple Monitors) I would be extremely grateful because it's pretty annoying

Hello,

First Set your Resolution on Full Screen mode and then change screen mode because some games lock the resolution when Borderless mode is chosen.

Hello,

There should be a screen mode in the options menu that says full screen windowed or borderless full screen switch to it and it should fix your problem

That doesn't work when you are using a custom resolution
