I was wondering if i should buy a gtx 1080 or upgrade my fx 8350 first. Will my fx 8350 bottleneck the gtx 1080? My current gpu is r9 390x. I don't have a lot og money to spend (budget on 850USD (6500 nkr))

Solution
If your monitor is 1080p 60hz, upgrade CPU first since GTX 1080 will be overkill and FX will surely bottleneck. I suggest Ryzen 5 1600, b350 mb and 16 gb 3200 dual channel ddr4 ram. However, Zen 2 is on the way, next month or so, wait to see what they can offer. BTW, what is your ideal gaming resolution? 390 is roughly on par with 1060. I will also spend on an SSD if you don't have it yet.

I forgot to say that I'm on the competitive side of gaming and like my games to run as smooth and as fast as possible.
I am pretty sure I'm going to get to the point where I'm playing on a 2k 144hz monitor, but for now I'm playing on a 144hz 1080p 27". I have never heard of "Zen 2" so I could go and check that out. My ram is double 4 GB Hyperx black. I've got a Samsung SSD so that's ok.

I really like the 8-cores for streaming on Twitch.

Ryzen 1600's 6 core is going to crush FX's 8 core in gaming while streaming due to better single core and better IPC.

Here is a 1400, essentially 4 core version of 1600, vs 8350:

Ryzen is Zen and Zen 2 is next gen on AM4 socket:)

However, if you buy now, I suggest Intel I7-8700k, Z370 MB. It has strongest single core and also 6 cores, can beat all Ryzen in gaming and streaming. Just much more expensive. Zen 2 is 12nm chip and leaked data shows capable of 5GHz as well, may get close to 8700k.
