Opinion on NAS device

I was browsing around recently for a NAS device to start streaming my media to my Roku. I know very little about all the differences between the different devices out there but was looking to get some opinions on the Synology DiskStation DS218+ or at least some recommendations on different brands/models from those of you who have an NAS device.

Have you read the review over on SmallNetBuilder for the 218j and 218play -- https://www.smallnetbuilder.com/nas/nas-reviews ? The "+" models have features enabled that home users may not use. The Synology line of NAS are great products. They run the same software baseline on all the units and differentiate the models based on number of disks and performance. For what you want the "j" or the "play" models will probably provide plenty of performance and save some $$$ over the "+". Put that money toward larger or faster disks.
