Hello everyone. I'm looking to build my first ever gaming pc from scratch and it's pretty overwhelming since there's so many choices for every component. I did some research but I'm afraid I'm going to screw it uo somehow so I'm looking for some advice from all you lovely tech savvy people out there. So first obviously I need a desktop. So i was thinking of going for gtx 1080 ti gpu maybe in sli build since that seems to be the best value for future proofing as well or should i wait for this years new gpus to come out first? As for the rest I've no idea, like is it better to get the eatx motherboard for future proofing or is atx better value? Should i do 2x16gb ram or 4x8gb ram or is 4x16gb ram better bang for buck in the long term? Is skylake cpu better value or should i wait for coffeelake? And I've no clue about how much power the psu needs or what is a good casing either. Should i build an elgato capture card into the pc as well or just use it externally? Is a soundboard necessary? Watercooling or traditional fan cooling? Should i splurge all out for a huge ssd or just go for like 256/512gb ssd and stick a huge hdd in there too? Or is pcle nvme better (i have no clue what this is to be honest I just know that ssd's are much faster than traditional hdd's)

Also what about the right displays? Although the main purpose of the pc build is for gaming this is going to be my primary dream pc for everything including video and photo editing, content viewing besides the gaming as well. So is a 1440p monitor with 144hz refresh rate better? Or is 4k 60hz better? What resolution and screen size is better? Should i use two ultrawides or one? Should the screen be curved or not?

Lastly my budget for the build is around 4k usd maybe max upto 5k usd including the monitors and peripherals and etc. I've been saving for quite some time and I'll probably be using this for the next couple of years or so. Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions or advice and sorry for the extremely long winded questions but the truth is I'm way over my head im this and I'm afraid I might screw it up by buying components that don't support each other or break something while assembling or something

If that is the case, I7-8700k is the best atm, since you will do occasionally 4k video editing, 32 gb ram is a must, 64 is better to have, 2 sticks are good enough for 32 gb, but 64 can only take 4x16 on Z370. FPS games -> faster refresh rate, Gsync monitor is best with GTX and IPS has best color. I7/I9 on X299 and X399 are for serious productivity work, no better than 8700k in gaming. If I have 5k and want to spend now, 1080ti + 144p 144+Hz or wide screen 2k 100+Hz is what I will get. 4k 60 fps is worse in those fps games. SLI is bad idea for playing games, mostly for productivity work. Volta card and 4k 100+ FPS monitor will not appear any time soon, so I won't depend on those.

My recommendations with a wide screen 2k gsynic ips...

My reply got cut off. I play most fps like cod, battlefield and csgo. Also pubg and overwatch and other popular games like gta dark souls and witcher etc. As for video editing normally 1080p at 120fps max and the occasional 4k videos at 60fps. My cameras that i use are my mobile phones. Sorry for the lack of info earlier and thanks for the quick response bro.
