Hi gents,

I installed new SSD in my laptop (now I have HDD + SSD). Whenever I try to write file onto HDD which is in cdrom caddy my laptop lagging (especially large file 3+ GB), i can still use the mouse but folders/ browser will not open , only power button helps to turn off pc. Writing file is till going but at speed 355 kb/s. Definitely there's something wrong.

Extra info. Laptop will not start if i put ssd into optical bay, only in original place for hdd.
Please help, any info appreciated.

Wow, that's a weird problem. I've never heard of anything like it.

But check the BIOS to see if there are any settings you can change, or if anything looks suspicious. (As Jwpanz asked, can you see the drive in the BIOS?)

Also, update your BIOS to the latest version.

Update any SATA-related drivers to the latest version. E.g. Intel Rapid Storage Technology, general motherboard drivers, etc.

Finally, try different hardware diagnostics to see if they can find anything problematic. E.g., Sisoft SANDRA, Aida64, etc. Also, check SMART monitoring. See if any system analyzer tells you anything that seems wrong.

See if the hard drive manufacturer offers a downloadable hard drive diagnostic.

And of course, Google around and see if there are any other hard drive diagnostics you want to try.

At the very least, you might see the hard drive diagnostics always crash on a given type of operation. That might at least give you a clue.
