Hello. I've bought a new monitor ( XB271HU IPs 1440p g sync)

I play doom multiplayer competitively.

The performance i get is quite good. 60-100 FPS on 1440p, medium settings with some fps drops here and there.

However sometimes ( seems to be random) when i'm in a big match with lots of players and things happening on screen, sometimes my FPS drops to 0, screen freezes for 1 second, then it continues normally.

I've set up MSI afterburner and checked the values, and it seems everything is alright, except the GPU usage, which drops to 0% when this occures.

THe PSU is ok, The cpu usage is ok. everything else seems normal.

other componenets: i7 4790,16gb ram, game on SSD 850evo.

i thought this might be caused by the lag spike in internet, however i realised this never happened when i was playing on 1080p. I also updated thE GPU drivers to the latest available after connecting the new monitor.

Please help me

I really do think it is the vram do you know if doom uses dynamic resolution scaling, if so then maybe game is rendering between 1440p and 1080p, and when it jumps up to 1440p the vram maxes out, or the vram just gets used up some other way, and causes the gpu to use dram, and this is what causes the pause. lower the texture detail not by a lot, just 1 lower, and run the game in Vulcan. :)

I believe this is your vram maxing out when running at 1440p, your gpu has 4gb of vram, the problem is probably not fixable, however i would overclock my vram mainly to make it occur less . Good Luck :)
