My TOSHIBA DT01ACA100 is the reason my computer has been running so slow. I just figured this out when windows booting up. Do you have any recommendations for a new hard drive or ssd for gaming and to use as a boot drive. I will most likely keep using my Toshiba just for storage.

Is this a desktop or laptop?
What OS?
What has changed to make it seem 'slow'?
How much do you want to spend on this new drive?
How do you plan to integrate the SSD into the system? Clone, or clean install of the OS on the new drive?

This is a desktop
Windows 10
It takes forever to load windows and apps
Under 100
I want to use it as a boot drive and put important apps and maybe some games

OK, the above mentioned 850 EVO 250GB is the default recommendation.

How to use?
Well, one way or another, you need to have the OS on this new drive. And then your applications, and maybe a game or two.

How much space is currently consumed on your existing drive, and what, exactly, takes up that space?

440gb is used right now and that is movies games and applications

How I moved my stuff is that I backed up everything I needed on to another drive and then deleted everything until it was about the same space as the new SSD. I would not delete the folders like My Pictures and stuff because I would need that for the new SSD. Then, I do not recall which software, but the software gave the option of cloning it.
