I don't know if this should be in the Windows 10 Software section, but I built a USB hub out of an old USB hub(this part worked fine) and a USB cable with two male USB, one for power and the other for power and data, therefore no reason to worry about too much power drawn from the port. When I plug it into to my laptop it says that the device is not recognized. Is there any free way to fix this or is it something I can't fix?

I have been soldering for a while and all the wires were the correct, usual, corresponding colors for a USB cable. I have short curcuited things over the laptops USB ports and it was fine.

The main reason I need it isn't because on the other two ports on the laptop where weighed down, as in I plugged in heavy things and they pushed the port down and caused it to snap. I have one remaking port and I want it to last longer then usual.
