What is preferred between USB wifi adapter or PCI wireless card when the router is about ~100ft away?

Sadly I can't trace an Ethernet cable as I'd like to so wireless only option for my desktop.

I have Netgear n300 wnr2000v5 router that from my room.....if I traced a cable from my room to the living room it would be 100ft give or take.

I was bored so i made some visual aid! Haha (not to actual scale) https://imgur.com/XGvFtmN

As you can see my PC is right next to my TV stand backed against the wall which means I'd assume that would drastically effect performance. Which of course is my concern of doing PCI.

On my laptop I get about 35 mbps speed in my room.

I used to bridge connection between my desktop to treat the laptop it's internet source (which I also got around 35 mbps for) and worked fine for a long time but lately the connection between two acting funny so I figured I'd drop as less hardware as possible.

Well if your pc is upstairs i'd recommend a Powerline/Wifi Booster:

If its downstairs WIFI is fine but if gaming i'd recommend a LAN cable.

A Powerline uses the copper electric power wiring inside the walls to transfer the internet signal around the house to the other Internet boosters you have which have LAN cables plugged into internet enabled devices.

Your link goes to site that has some problems and can't display what you posted. PCI may offer higher speeds and would no doubt be tidier as its inside your case. It may also offer a bigger antennae which is a definite plus. The biggest issue with your walls is what they are made of but considering the speeds you already get it's nor likely they are brick. My suggestion would be PCI for the reasons above although USB could well give you acceptable results as well.

Same floor. And even on my laptop playing my game on 30mbps is fine so as long as I can get that on my desktop like how I was when I bridged connection it.would be great.

Which models of router and adapter do you have? And are there cable outlets in those rooms?
