Ok so my budget is $500 to $650 and was debating to either go pre-built like this HP PC but realized I want a machine that I can upgrade later on. So I guess I'll have to build it myself. I have somewhat of a idea of how to put a pc together but really I'm not that confident and a little scared to be honest.

Aestgetic wise I'm not too picky but would like a see through side panel with "white" lights.
I will be using the desktop for mainly gaming (Squad and RTS games Total War) at medium to high settings if possible. Should I just go and do a build like this on Youtube? Youtube build

The pavilion is about as good as you are going to get for that money. It can be upgraded as it uses a standard psu and everything else is normal about it for once.

so the Pavilion is better than a $650 built machine? btw it's not on sale anymore it's $660 on Walmart.com

Unfortunately building your own machine is ridiculously expensive right now due to a combination of high DDR4 prices and a massive GPU shortage due to the cryptocurrency boom and everybody trying to get in on the latest get rich quick scheme. If you are on a tight budget eg. <$1000 getting a prebuilt system might be your best option as their prices haven't spiked up to ridiculous levels yet.
