I can't buy my AMD Ryzen system because i dont have the budget to afford it and DDR4 memory and therefore was thinking to simply upgrade my cpu from the x4 620 to a phenom x6 because it the best my motherboard can support without having to change the entire system but is it worth it in 2018 im worried about. I just use my system for college office tasks and some photoshop editing and light gaming on Rocket league. but i see stutters on that game so i need to upgrade something and try to help with the bottleneck between CPU and GPU because i got the GPU recently

Motherboard: GA-MA78LMT-US2H rev 1.1
CPU: Athlon II x4 620
8gb RAM DDR3
120gb SSD + a HDD
GPU: Asus GTX 1050 2gb
PSU: Be Quiet! Pure Power 10 500w 80+ Silver

.. to CPU: Phenom II x6?

You'd be better off with the fastest Phenom II X4 you can get, like a 980 if possible. The six core CPU will do nothing an X4 can't do in gaming. Is it worth it? Depends on how much the CPU will cost you and how much you're willing to spend on it.

Athlon IIs were not gaming CPUs, even back when new. The Phenom IIs were the gaming CPUs and they should be able to handle Rocket League and other games on that level of system requirements. Look for something clocked at 3.4ghz or higher. Clockspeed means a lot with these CPUs.

I will not bother. If I were you, I would wait a year to save money for a new system, a new laptop or a PS4.

The game is badly optimized on PC and the PS4 version is running perfectly.
