My graphics card won't fit into the expansion slot where i need to screw it in. More specifically, when I line the gpu up with the place where I need to screw, the expansion slot, and the gpu are about an inch away from one another. I know that this isn't supposed to happen, so I want to know how I could fix it.

Some context, my case is a NZXT - S340 (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case
gpu:
EVGA - GeForce GTX 1060 3GB 3GB SC GAMING Video Card
I also had to use a slot extender for my graphics card, though it doesn't seem to raise the gpu higher than it would just being on the motherboard.

Post a picture of your setup so we can see how you are trying to plug this in. There is no way a video card would be an inch from the back of the case if the motherboard is in properly. Do the other ports line up with the rear of the case normally? What is this "slot extender" you are using? The S340 should be able to fit a 1060 card with no fiddling.

the actual extender was EZDIY PCI Express 16x Flexible Cable Card Extension Port Adapter High Speed Riser Card-9cm

I ended up just zip tying the screw hole to the case, which seems to work.

Why are you even using the riser extender cable? Seems a bit silly since that case should fit any card I can think of without any modifications.
