Hello dear TH Forum.

I'm having a wierd one.. Everything worked fine until I booted my Laptop today. It hangs on the American Megatrends Bios POST screen (Showing nothing but its logo and the version + copyright line) takes about 30 seconds to one minute and then boots normally. What might be the culprit here ? I haven't changed anything to date and it just randomly started to happen. I had nothing plugged in except the AC power adapter.

Here are my specs and thank you all in advance:

I have tried this before with a malfunctioning HDD. The bios keep trying to identify the HDD and it can take a lot of time. Did an underscore flashed top left on the screen before POST? You can hold the TAB button at boot to see what's going on:
If it stuck on something like auto detecting sata3g/6g it's probably a bad drive. I have seen a good DVD drive having this problem too, idk how it's fixed, maybe just some simple plug and unplug

Thank you for your answer.

This has been very strange. I didnt have the splash screen on boot activated as I deactivated it right from the day I bought the laptop, So I was always able to read the details. However it would get stuck displaying only the American Megatrends logo and it's version. When I read your answer, I just hit tab anyway and as if it was magic It jumped right over to booting windows without the freeze. Since then It never froze again at the bios / american megatrends screen. I have no idea what solved this issue, or if this was just a day my bios / bootup decided to trick me. I also can't tell if simply hitting tab is a solution for a problem that probably didn't exist. It's the first time ever something like this happened to me. Weird. However, it's solved. Sorry for creating a thread for this, but it seemed to be the strangest thing ever.
