Is it worth it? Memory and GPUs

Hi,
Q1:
I'm planning on buying the i7 7700k together with the MSI H270. While check the spec sheets, I noticed that the i7 can only run DDR4-2133/2400 sticks, and the H270 only supports DDR4-2400 (max). So my question is, is it worth it to buy a 3000mhz memory?
I asked this because I really like the look of the Gskill Trident Z RGB sticks.

Q2: With the i7 and the H270, I was also thinking of buying the GTX1060. Galax's GTX1060 EXOC White, to be exact. Question now is, should I get the 6gb version or the 3gb version. I asked this because, I've watched few comparison and benchmark vids like jayztwocents using the 3gb and 6gb version. I noticed that, It only has a slight difference when it comes to fps (6-10fps), and of course, the 3gb is much cheaper.

Help? I'm not really a full-on tech kinda guy.

Thanks!

I like AsRock Z370M Pro4. It is all black, but quite cheap and still very reliable. I don't think there's a white Z370, and those that are black/white are mostly black with some spots only. Even AsRock Taichi which used to have a lot of white, in Z370 incarnation is mostly black too.
Q1> 7700K could run with 3000mhz RAM if you have Z270 motherboard, not H270. If using H270, you will be limited to 2400 Mhz speed - but that does not stop you from using 3000 Mhz sticks, they will just run at slower speed. Is it worth? You have to answer this one yourself is it ok spend extra cash just for good looks.
Q2> As long as you don't go above 1080p resolution, 3 Gb version should suffice. But at higher resolutions you will get severe performance hit, even to the point where 1060 3Gb runs slower then 1050ti 4Gb just because it does not have enough VRAM.

Q1: Okidoks. Note to self: Get z270 if I want to run 3000mhz ram.

Q2: Yup, 1080p all the way. Btw I'm just playing e-sports titles like: CSGO, Overwatch, Dota2, PUBG etc and I usually play on low settings, also I record my game play, sometimes stream. Is the 3gb version enough to do that?

as info GTX1060 3GB is not only coming with less RAM but it is also quite a lot weaker than GTX1060 6GB.
If possible, I would not pick 1060 3GB.
I would even simply skip 1060 3GB completely and pick either only 1050Ti or 1060 6GB....or higher natually, if needed.
1060 3GB is simply not on my buy list at all.

Q1. H270 chipset will not let you overclock the 7700K.
That leaves some 20% cpu performance on the table. You want Z270 for that.

Q2. 6gb GTX1060 will have more CUDA cores. That is important to performance as extra vram

Generally speaking intel processors have an excellent ram controller.
So much so that the benefit of faster ram is relatively minor.

And... be careful about fancy heat sinks. They are mostly marketing and not functional unless you are seeking record ram overclocks.
Moreover, tall heat spreaders can impact cpu coolers.

If this is a new build, consider going 8th gen coffee lake.
A I5-8600K will cost less than a I7-7700K and will outperform it.

Gotcha, better pick the 6gb version. Or just go for the 1050ti, if thinking of getting the 3gb version, or to better fit the budget.

The i5 8600k? interesting. Can you differentiate the two "for dummies" please. I'm also gonna use the rig for video editing, can you add that variable in explaining why i5 8600k is better.
Thanks!

Edit: not really looking to overclock btw.

I7-7700K is a 4 core processor with 4 extra hyperthreads, making it have 8 dispatchable threads.
Each hyperthread makes use of unused components of the main core. Consider a hyperthread as perhaps 1/3 the capability of a full core.
I5-8600K has 6 full cores, no hyperthreads. I7-8700K has 6 cores plus 6 extra hyperthreads. (about $130 more)

K processors can be overclocked.
Here are some stats from silicon lottery, an outfit that bins chips and sells the better ones for a price premium.
As of 6/9/17
What percent can get an overclock at a somewhat sane 1.4v Vcore.

I7-7700K
4.9 83%
5.0 62%
5.1 29%
5.2 6%
as of 12/01'2017
What % of I5-8600k chips can oc
at a agressive vcore of 1.4 or so and delidded
4.9 98%
5.0 84%
5.1 65%
5.2 38%
5.3 13%
as of 11/11/2017
What % of I7-8700k chips can oc
at a agressive vcore of 1.4 or so and delidded
4.9 100%
5.0 81%
5.1 58%
5.2 30%
5.3 6%

The I5-8600K has two less threads than the 7700K for video editing, but each of the 6 threads it has are faster making the editing performance a wash.
OTOH, for gaming, which depends on a fast master thread, the 8600K will be better.
few games will make effective use of more than 2-3 threads.

If budget is not a big issue, buy the 8700K, there is nothing better.
But on a budget for gaming, the $130 saved can usually be more effectively spent on a better graphics card.

I somewhat get it. But budget is a concern too, that's why I was eyeing on 7th gen processors, and I didn't really consider 8th gen processors, because from where I'm at, motherboards for 8th gens are still pricey. I'm following a theme also, it kinda kills the budget haha.

Good Z270 motherboard should cost pretty much same as Z370 one required for 8th gen, so not much difference here.

Can you suggest a good but somewhat cheap z370 please. White if possible, or black and white.
