Upgrading from gtx 1050 to 1060

specs:
cpu: i5 6600
gpu: palit gtx 1050 2gb stormx
ram: 1x8gb 2133
psu:cougar 550w

i want to play high end games like gta 5, assassins creed origin, pubg etc.
In high to ultra setting 1080p and i am planning to upgrade my gpu to gtx 1060.
Is it ok or should i pay a little more for gtx 1070?

1060 is enough to play any game on ultra at 1080p. It is not sufficient for any higher resolution or higher refresh rate.

If this is the card you plan on using for the next several years then I would get a 1070 to be more "future-proof" as games get more demanding

If this is just for a year or two then you could get away with the 1060 and not see much of any difference.
