Most Affordable HDMI 2.0 Graphics Card?

If you read my last thread you will know I got one of the counterfeit GTX-960 cards from eBay only to find it is a GTS-450.

I'm not a gamer, I just want to run my desktop on the TV at 4K res to have a large workspace for Excel, Photoshop, Fusion360 etc..

What is the most affordable GPU for doing this?

I know some people might think Fusion 360 needs a powerful card, but it's so far it's running fine on my FirePro V4900 at 2560 x 1440 so I don't need a 1080 TI or something!

First of all, sorry about the counterfeit card. Well, at least for Nvidia, they support 4k since their 6XX generation, which are quite old. So it all comes down to what budget you have. You could get an used 760 quite inexpensively for example, or a 960 as you intended. But if you're buying new, I'd definitely go for the latest generation and get either a 1050, 1050Ti or 1060. It's not all about gaming, they have newer features, they're very energy efficient, and you might get them for the same price as an older generation new one. I'm not very experienced on AMD GPUs but the same principle applies. Good luck!

I need to connect via HDMI as that is the only input my TV has. So It'll need HDMI 2.0

Unless I can output 4K @ 60Hz on DVI and get a converter for HDMI 2.0?

Then use HDMI. You'll find HDMI 2.0 from the 9XX onwards. Officially you'll need 2.0 to have 4k at 60hz. However, I've heard that this has been achieved even under HDMI 1.4.

If all you want is the desktop then the GT 1030 or RX 540 will do the trick.

On the other hand my existing FirePro v4900 has a displayport - is there an easy way to get 4k @60hz from that to HDMI 2.0?

If 4k is the main thing for you, then a 1030 or AMD equivalent is the best choice. They have the hardware encoding/decoding support and the latest outputs. That Firepro dates from 2011, 4k wasn't exactly a thing back then. I would not recommend relying on adapters.

Well, the issue there wouldn't be the port, since there are Displayport -> HDMI adapters. The thing is that your Firepro's max output resolution is 2560x1600, so.. not 4K. In other words, you could indeed hook your Firepro to your TV via HDMI using one of these adapters, but it won't be 4K.
