Hey guys and gals,

I clone a drive on a regular basis that has windows on it so i can toss it into a new computer and be gtg. What i currently do is just leave the side off my computer and plug and unplug new drives after their cloned but i want a more elegant solution. could i setup a home server that i could access from my main computer using macrium that would see the clone on the server and also have a place to backup my data.

Any help or tips is greatly appreciated.

This makes absolutely zero sense.

Tossing the OS drive into "any computer" is no guarantee of it actually working.
And then you run into licensing issues.

You can't just randomly move a windows install around like this.
Unless you have some special sauce. If so...please inform the rest of us exactly how you do this.

How many "drives", and how often do you do this?

the clone i use is to get other computers up and running its not a back up of my personal stuff. i just wanna be able to clone drives more efficiently and also have a place to store my data. I like the look of rack mounted stuff. I need atleast 15-20tb of space to work with

Still...a clone of PC A is not a guarantee of that clone working in PC B.

"I clone a drive on a regular basis"
is quite a bait far from...
" I need atleast 15-20tb of space to work with"

What are you actually wanting to do?

i want someplace i can store my data, backups, random files etc and access them from another computer via web browser. I want to if possible slide in a new drive into the array goto my main computer and open cloning software and get the image from said place and clone it to the drive take it out and use it in another computer. the image that i clone around is 8tb so i figure the other 12tb or less would be for personal backups.

"the image that i clone around is 8tb"
OK...completely confused here.
I thought you were talking about a bare OS install to put in a different PC (for whatever reason).

That is a whole PC, with a LOT of data. Probably spread across multiple physical drives?

Still unsure of what you are actually trying to do here.

OK...and the reason this needs to be 'cloned on a regular basis'?

In any case, it sounds like you need a NAS box, or other dedicated PC type server.

No need for a server board for this.
Any "PC" would work.

Still unsure of this desire to regularly clone an 8TB install.
The game partition has its own drive letter, correct? Why the need to clone the whole thing every time?

on the 8 tb drives, theres a partion with windows installed and a partition with all the games on it so when you toss in the harddrive to any computer it already has the software on it and a windows install so your ready to boot up and go
