as all are saying that 7700 k works on a single core so it can play old and new games, ll your recomended processor do that?
i need 3300 mhz ram speed but both of these processors are offering low speed even low over clocked speed of the rams.
8700 k 7700 k

DDR4-2666 DDR4-2133/2400

plz inform me about any best processor which can afford 3300 mhz ram.
one more thing, i think PCI E 3.0 IS MUCH FASTER THAN PCIE 2.0 MOTHER BOARD SLOT,
AM I RIGHT? I WANT TO RUN GTX 1080 AT ITS BEST, PURCHASINF 900 W POWER SUPPLY FOR IT SO PLZ GUIDE ME IN THIS SCENARIO. THX A LOT. WAITING.

This guy is correct. Also the i7 8700k is faster in single core and multicore. It is much better then the i7 7700k.
As far as power supply goes a 650w should do the trick.

I find it interesting that you don't add the cost of the video card or case in here. That only adds another 900 dollars or so bringing the cost of the build to around $2000.

Core = hardware
Thread = how the hardware is supplied with information.
The i7-8700K, has hyper-threading. This is where each core can take 2 threads. Even though the CPU has 6 physical cores, it allows the CPU to act as if it had 12 cores.
