Okay so I have a G20CB that I have had for a few months. I had been using it on a 60hz monitor that was given to me for free and it had worked good for the 2 months I used it. I play Elder Scrolls Online. So I decided to get a 1080p 144HZ Acer G-Sync 27" monitor and I had setup the computer to run at the new max frame rates.

I had the monitor hooked up and my game was working fine for the first hour. Then I noticed my GPU temperature was all tbe way up to over 80 degrees. My computer black screened and after 20 secs I was able to turn it off by holding the power button down. At this point I was assuming the stock GTX-1070 had just blown from running on the new monitor.

But when I turned it back on... No outputs worked. The mouse led was off, keyboard off and no video. My LEDs and fans run as normal. So I got my old monitor and tried to hook that up with DVI and that doesnt work either.

So I would have assumed it was the GPU. But for the life of me I cannot explain why a failed GPU would cause the outputs on the mother board to not work for my keyboard and mouse.

I took the G20CB apart cleaned the GPU and reset the CMOS....

When I plugged it back in and powered it up both the Keyboard and Mouse worked but I still had no video. I tried messing with it for 30 minutes and I tried plugging it into my little monitor but I got nothing.

Anyways I had to go to bed so against my will I had to shut the unit down. Sure thing next morning I come to turn it on and no keyboard, no mouse, no video.

I tried resetting the CMOS one more time and this time it didnt give me any mouse or keyboard power.

Now I am wondering if there is a safety in the mother board where if it senses the GPU has failed then it will not output power to the USBs.

But now I am even more confused. I gave the computer to a repair store to diagnose it because I couldnt find method to bench test the GPU anywhere.

So when i talk to the guy at the end of the day yesterday he said he bad the computer working. I asked him how?!! And he said he turned it on first time and it worked. So excitingly I drive to the store to get my computer. When I get back i turn it on and I am in the same boat as before. Turns on lights and fan, but no keyboard mouse or video.

So then I start wondering its a power issue and I moved it from on surge protector to another which didnt work.

Also I would to state I tested it on multiple DVI and DP chords and on multiple monitors.

Because of what I do for work (Hvac) I am left to believe that something is wrong electrically in the area of the house where my computer is? But I havent had any issues with anything else and the CPU still powers on. I am not expecting anyone to know what is happening but I figured I would ask to see if anyone has had something like this happen before.

My best guess is something is wrong with the 2nd wire from the power bricks that powers the GPU and the other components but how would the repair shop have gotten it to work and I cant? Thanks.

Solution
Never mind. I figured it out on my own lol!

So maybe this will help someone else. I figured out that the problem only happened when I was hooked up to my G-Sync monitor. I was hooked up via display port. Well apparently the Display Port Cable I have is not to my monitors specs.

Apparantly Display Ports chords for Monitors are not supposed to have 20 pins.... The 20th pin is a power Pin. So after I shut my PC down it would powering my pc still. I confirmed this by accident when I went to hit the power button to clear any built up charge out and my pc tried to boot. The only thing still hooked in was DP. I bought that DP cable on Ebay.

My PC has 2 power bricks. This was preventing to 2nd one from being able to power my gpu...
