Tax Time is coming and I would like to bring my outdated rig up to date. What can i buy/install that would be a good upgrade, but wont cost an arm and a leg. Feel free to recycle parts if you can. Thanks! Current Set up:

FX-8350 with EVO 212 Cooler
16gb G-Skill Sniper DDR3
Asus 990fx R 2.0 MOBO
MSi GTX 970 OC Edition
EVGA 650w GQ
Windows 10 Pro 64 Bit
2-1 TB Black hard drives
Dual Screen Set up

Solution
Your probably going to want to look at the Ryzen 5 1600, B350 motherboard & DDR4 as it will be a good improvement over that FX. If you don't care to overclock then I'd suggest waiting for Intel to come out with there budget Coffeelake boards (B360/H370) and pairing it with the i5-8400.

As for overclocking there are plenty of guides out there.

The "cheapest" upgrade I would suggest is getting a aftermarket cooler and overclocking that CPU (& GPU) as far as it will safely go as that should give you a bit more performance. Next would be getting a 240gb+ SSD for the OS and maybe a game or two with longer loading screens but to see a good upgrade your looking at replacing the CPU/MB/RAM.

Oh, I have a after-market CPU Cooler, forgot to add that, updated thanks...but I dont know how to overclock. As for replacing the CPU/MB/RAM, I figured that. Just curious what would be a decent upgrade that I wouldnt need to spend thousands on.

Ok, and Coffelake? Would Zen 2 be better or still get Coffelake?

Unfortunately Intel hasn't set a release date for the budget boards, just Q1 2018 so I think by March they should be out. If you can I'd suggest waiting anyways to see if Coffeelake or Zen 2 will be better for a upgrade and hopefully by then RAM will be cheaper as it's kind of expensive currently.

Thanks for you help so far, so I should wait for Zen 2/budget boards to come out? Whats wrong with the ones that are out now, are they really that over priced?
