Xbox 360 wired controller won't install on Win 10

I've tried everything to get my Xbox 360 wired controller to work on my Win 10 PC gaming computer but when I plug it in to many different USB ports, it just blinks(pulses) and there isn't any recognition of drivers installing. I even went to the Microsoft site and downloaded the Win 7 64 bit drivers, installed them and selected to run, both with Admin rights and win 7 64 bit compatibility and still nothing. Any suggestions? Thanks for any/all responses.

It should have a sticker on the back that says Microsoft somewhere. If not it's a third party controller and I don't know how to make it work with windows.

I borrowed it from my landlord and he told me that it came with the Xbox 360 console package years ago and doesn't have a manufacturer's name on it. He lent me the other controller that came with the package and I tried that one as well, and that didn't install or work either. Just blinks slowly, then rapidly when the center button is pushed.
