Asus motherboard - No VGA detected from integrated graphics

Hi, I am currently building a new mini gaming pc, using a (brand new) Asus A68HM Plus Motherboard, however on POST, from the speaker I can hear 1 long beep and 3 short beeps. According to the Asus beep codes table this means there is no VGA Detected.
This happens with a monitor plugged into the vga port, keyboard plugged in and all internal power connectors in the correct sockets. The CPU & system fans spin and the mobo actually lights up orange as expected.
I am confused by this error as I do not have a graphics card of any kind installed, the reason being that the motherboard already has integrated Radeon Graphics which is adequate for my needs.
I have tried removing the cmos battery and replacing after 10 minutes, shorting the cmos pins and I have also reseated 3 different sets of compatible memory modules. Even by installing just one stick into DDR3 slot 1 and swapping over sticks I am still faced with the same issue.
Also, I have tried 2 different working 550w power units from other working pcs.
Please advise how I can move forward with this build as I am very frustrated.
Many Thanks,
Neil

You're welcome. The board uses the CPU integrated graphics. It would work with an APU, but not with Athlon.

Yes mate, it's an Athlon 845. Thanks for this advice and I will try this out however, I am confused why I need a graphics card as the mobo is supposed to have integrated graphics with hdmi and triple monitor capabilities etc.?

The board does not have integrated graphics.
It only has the display connections to use when your CPU is an APU, wich has integrated graphics.
Athlons for the FM2 socket does not have integrated graphics.
You need a graphics card to use this CPU on that board.

Hi again, Following on from the issue I was having with vga, can I use any graphics card of any brand/spec. or does it have to suit the athlon too?
I am not wanting to spend alot of money either, I just want a display lol.
