My computer has been acting very tempormental lately and crashes after about an hour of gaming. I don’t get a BSOD so something is overheating however all of my temps are fine. I have literally no clue what is causing this and I’m getting fed up with this because I haven’t been able to just sit down and enjoy a game in a long time. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Specs:
Mobo: MSI Z97 Gaming 5
CPU: Intel I7-4790k not OC w/ Cooler Master - Nepton 120XL 76.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler
GPU: MSI GTX 980 ti
Memory: G.SKILL TridentX Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3
PSU: EVGA Supernova 650W Gold 80+
Case: Phanteks Enthoo Pro 2 Intake fans 1 out

None of those would cause an issue. They have to do with booting up, but nothing that would cause what you are talking about.

When you checked with a multimeter was the system under load? Perhaps check again and have someone load up a testing program or two? Does the 12V rail dip down? The errors you are seeing are power loss errors so if that's the only thing in there then that's the issue? That or try a friends PSU and see if the issue goes away.
1. List all your hardware with the question. Pretty hard to figure out what could be wrong without knowing what you have. :)

2. Why are you so sure it has to be something temprature related? You dont list any temp readings. Cpu, Gpu, Disk, Mobo, Ambient room temp?
What kind of CPU cooler? How many case fans mounted as intake and exhaust? What kind of case?

3. This problem only happens when you play games? If so, what game are we talking about and at what settings?

1. I put my specs in the original post. I made the post off of my phone because I wasn't at my PC. Sorry about that lol.
2. I assumed it was temperature related as there was no BSOD and everyone has told me its probably overheating. My mobo temp is 28 celsius and my disks are at 29 celsius.
3. I have been playing Rainbow 6 Siege on high, but lowering the graphics didnt change anything.

This is the error that's causing the shutdowns. I've researched it however it is a very vague error and there are many possible causes. The one that has stood out the most is my power supply. Does that sound like it could be causing this?

My PC won't even let me navigate menus for 5 minutes so I can't currently do this. I'm gonna give it a while to settle down and then Ill try again.

Edit: Although now that I think about it, I crashed during the menus which is strange because I've been in game for about an hour before it crashes and it crashed under a not even remotely demanding portion.

The motherboard is days old so that is unlikely as it has happened before that. Ram I’ve had go bad before so I have memtest I can try. If all else fails my PSU is under warranty so I can try to send it in.

Sorry I’m newer to computers, out of spec means it’s providing a Lower voltage then it should right? If so will HWMoniter provide accurate voltages? I have no idea what each of the specific voltages should be so if HWMoniter will show the correct voltages I’ll try and run it and post a screenshot.

I've noticed that the crashes happen quicker if I try to run something right after a crash. Is it possible that my PSU is overheating since all of the other temps seem fine? Unfortunately its hard for me to get temps under load because of the crashes. I ran R6 Siege for only like 7 minutes and as I was trying to exit out of the game to check temps and get the screenshot it crashed.

Ok, sorry for the flood of replies lol but I just noticed that my +12V is running at 11.176V could this be the problem?

Edit: After checking voltages in the bios they seem fine.

CPU Core:1.104 V
CPU IO: 1.016 V
3.3V: 3.344 V
5V: 5.080 V
+12V: 12.192 V
DRAM: 1.504

Correct. The 12V would be out of spec. Nothing below 11.4V. It's easy to test for a power issue, just swap the PSU with another that should work. If the problem stops, that was the issue. I tend to believe Bios over software, but in your case seeing as there is an issue I'd either test with a volt meter, or try another PSU.

RAM passed memtest without a single error. Down to PSU and hard drive or SSD.

Software is famous for being off. I'd guess the bios reading is more accurate. But because there is a possible issue with a <11.4 reading it should be looked into. If the 12V rail can't provide correct power, that would totally cause the issue he mentioned.

Tested it with a multimeter and everything more or less matched the bios. Nothing was out of spec. If it's not the PSU would it be my hard drives then? I just did a clean install of windows because I read on another forum that that might help. I'm re installing a game right now and I'll see if its still happening.

Edit: As expected it'ts still happening. In fact I feel like it crashed even sooner.

Still the same kernal power error 41 but these are some others that happen around the same time as those ones.

Couldn't find a friend with a psu laying around with enough wattage. Just ordered one on amazon and it will be here in a few days. Ill test it then and let you know.
