Hey guys,

Before we start I want to thank everyone for the feedback that I have gotten on previous threads and can assume I will get on this one. My friend has been gaming on hand-me-downs for a while, but recently has decided to invest some money to expand his pc gaming experience. He is looking for a budget build that will allow him to play almost every game at 60+fps with low graphic settings. I know this question can be answered in many different ways with many different builds, but like most budget gamers, or all gamers, he wants high fps for low cost. Listed below are his pc specs.

Graphics Card: Nvidia Geforce GTX 750 Ti
Processor: AMD A8-7600 Radeon R7
Mobo: "to be filled by oem" I havent been able to fix this, but either way a new mobo will be required.
RAM: 8 gigs DDR3 1600MHz
Cooler: hyper evo 212 can be implemented but is not currently.

If any other computer specs are needed msg below and I will provide them, but im assuming the specs above are all that are needed since the case can hold any large build. Thanks

Intel is still faster gaming than Ryzen. That alone is my reason. Plus 8th-gen Intel is least affected (as far as Intel goes) by the recent issues.

Performance isn't that much difference if you go with the Ryzen 3 1300X. Here's a comparison https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWn-zsKGj9g

Here's a Ryzen build.

CPU: AMD - Ryzen 3 1300X 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($114.99 @ Newegg)
Motherboard: Gigabyte - GA-AB350-GAMING 3 ATX AM4 Motherboard ($84.99 @ Amazon)
Memory: Team - Vulcan 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4-3000 Memory ($102.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $302.97

Will need to know current power supply as to whether or not it needs replacing. You say the case will fit a large build, but I'd like to know specifically if it fits an ATX motherboard since you haven't specified the size of the current motherboard.

Also, we kind of need to know a budget.

Right now is a terrible time to buy a GPU. They have been all bought up by cryptocurrency miners and very few are available and they are overpriced.

So, I recommend getting CPU/Mobo/RAM now and using the 750 Ti until GPUs become available again.

You want 60fps+ this is what I recommend. But the 750 Ti will be a limiting factor. A GTX 1050 Ti would get 60fps+ in most games on low settings. Some games just don't run well. I didn't include it in this list because they are overpriced right now. So don't buy a GPU now unless you really need it. Wait for prices to go back down if you can.

Now, you can go with something cheaper but it might dip below 60fps on occasion. Something like AMD Ryzen 3 1200 or Pentium G4560; both would need a different motherboard.

yeah I have been looking at GPU prices and saw the influx. I was confused on why a 970 is now 1grand. Can't believe its because of crypto, that's a shame. Based on your build why would u recommend the intel instead of the ryzen especially with all the "issues" Intel has been having? and with that memory the ryzen should perform very well. thoughts?

*I suppose the savings with Ryzen might be worth it if budget is a concern. If he's in to overclocking he could get the 1200 and do that.

In short, no.

DDR3 is older, it won't work with a new system unless it's LP (low power) and you get a very specific motherboard. Not really worth it.

looks like the intel i3 build is the way to go. what if you were able to add 100dollars towards the graphics card? or the entire purchase, im assuming it would go towardds the card
