Adding USB-C Expansion Card to my PC: Will it degrade performance?

Hello guys,

I want to add a USB-C card to my computer. The reason is I want to buy a port replicator so I can add an additional monitor to my PC. I know I can do it with a USB 3 port but I heard that it could slow my computer. The last thing anyone wants is a slower computer right? Plus I don't know how much it will degrade it.

My laptop at work uses a port replicator via a USB-C port, so I was hoping, I could add on to my PC and add the monitors with little or no degradation.

I know I need a PCIe slot. What else do I need? Anything I need to know or watch out for?

Thanks!

How do I list my specs? I downloaded my manual from Dell. I do have a PCI-Express slot. And You are right I have VGA and an HDMI port.

Is there an application I can run or way i can get this information without search through all the documentation?

Dell Inspiron 3847.
Windows 10 Pro
12 GB of DDR3 DIMM RAM 1600 MHz.
Intel Quad Core i5 (4th Generation) 4460 3.20GHz

It appear that i have an Intel® HD Graphics 4600. That's the information I got from device manager.
