I bought a model WH16NS60 internal M.DISC 4K Blu-ray drive for PC and haven't used it much until now. Purchased Oct. 29th 2017, it's not too old and barely used. This unfortunately places me outside the 30-day replacement policy.
Anyway, I began using BD-DL (50GB) discs to backup some data and free up space. The first disc worked well, data stored accurately and with no errors at 6x. The second I've tried today went a little differently.
I began the burn using ImgBurn and it started off as usual. Going off and watching a youtube video after about a few minutes, I started hearing a horrible crunching / grinding noise and ImgBurn popup saying burn failed, essentially. I opened the drive and it functions in that regard but no disc will read at all anymore CD's, DVD's, BD-R's, I put the disc in and wait for nothing, then open the drive and the disc is in the exact same position, as if it never spun at all.
I haven't removed or taken apart the drive yet to see if I notice anything off but I was wondering if anyone has experienced anything like this. Without a solution either via this forum (google searching yielded nothing useful, especially with the model in particular) or a last resort of opening and tinkering with it, i'm out the cost with what I thought would be a good investment.
Anyway, any feedback would be greatly appreciated, I know people do this out of kindness and not obligation so I really love what goes on here
Thank you!
