Hi all- I was looking at options to create a 4-monitor setup by adding a video card (I'd probably replace my ancient video card at the same time, and buy 2 of the same brand/model), and 2 new monitors to go with the two I already have.
I am trying to research an alternative- I can get a 4k tv as large as (same total resolution as) my desired 2x2 monitor setup. Since all my work is in virtual machines, I can just size them to 1/4 size each and show all 4 at the same time, which is what I'm looking for.
I can get a 4x TV the right size for relatively cheap (~350), but as I look at video cards that say they can support that resolution, I'm seeing a lot of
"Max Resolution: Max Analog: 2048 x 1536 Max Digital: 3840 x 2160"
So digital is definitely what I'd want, but I'm confused by the distinction... especially since the cheap 4k TVs would rely on HDMI. HDMI uses a digital signal, but is there some reason it would be considered analog? It's not like those cards have some special analog output that I can see.
Thanks for any info!
