I'm in need of something to play most games at a high settings.

My last OS was windows 8,1 is 10 better?
Not much video editing will be done.
I have 2 144hz already so just the system itself.
Not sure between Intel or AMD. Pro's and Cons?

Future proof too if I need to upgrade in 2+ years

Based in UK

Thanks

Intel is still faster for high refresh rate gaming.

Volkgren has a good build.

This system has a 1080Ti vs the 1080 which is better for 2 x 144Hz. Same 8700k, and a H100i V2 which is pretty good. M.2 SSD for your OS and few select games. 1 TB HDD for mass storage. NZXT S340 is a good case to build in, and the RM 650X is good enough for the build. The fans are RGB and 3 pack.

Cheaper than 2000 Pounds and 1866.80 pounds.

What's the 850 Evo for if you've already got a 2TB hard drive and a 960 Evo? I would say either go all SSD or don't.

Yeah you're probably right. I couldn't really decide. 1TB SSD is still more expensive than both of those is why I chose to do it that way.

8700k for 144hz gaming; white on black build; full SSD config, dial back to MX500 500GB + 2TB 7200rpm HDD if you want to lower the total build budget.

Corsair RMx for solid performance + fitting with the cut out on the Pro M PSU cover, white on left side; front mounting the Crucial MX500 would provide the white pop on the right side of the PSU cover if you want it symmetric.

Arctic F12 5 fans pack; with each F12 having the ability to push ~80CFM through open air, having three at the front would be more than enough for any build short of going into jet engine territory with 2-3k rpm fans. Populate the two extras in the pack onto the Mugen 5, and use the two Phanteks F140SP included with the Pro M for back&top exhaust duty.

Included two SSD brackets for convenient future expansion options (the included two 3.5/2.5" trays + one 2.5" bracket [will be used with the MX500] + these two brackets).

Good build, but that CPU cooler is mid range at best. I would not trust it with the 8700k, considering it runs hotter than the 7700k. Seems like it is difficult to build with.

Considering your H100i is barely any better at maximum fan speed, 2435 +/- 10% RPM 70.69CFM vs the Mugen 5 with just one 120mm running at 1200rpm 53CFM, which is specifically replaced with two 120mm 1350rpm 74CFM. Are you sure you wanna stand by that statement?

The statement is based on reviews on pcpartpicker. The cooler is the H100i V2 which I choose, which may be better than its predecessors. If you look at it like that, then almost all the coolers in the list are just better.

I may be wrong. And if so, I accept my error.

Yeah I never advocate throwing extra parts in for the sake of throwing extra parts in. If there's a use for it, great. Otherwise I would just leave it off the list.

True but an extra SSD never goes to waste especially on a gaming system.

Yeah you could make that argument. I'm personally of the belief that the fewer drives you have the better. I'd rather have fewer drives with more storage space and have the extra space going unused than have a whole extra drive go unused. The difference is that you have that extra drive bay available in case you do buy an extra hard drive. Storage needs generally vary from user to user, and you can always add more drives if you decide you need them.

That was practically the worst review of the Mugen 5 and even then it's not too far behind the few other air towers on that chart (Reeven Justice, Reeven Okeanos, Scythe Fuma); where the Justice are equipped with faster and louder fan and in the Okeanos and Fuma case, are of the bigger twin tower design with two fans (which may prove problematic with two 140mm fans surrounding the CPU socket for my config). Point is even in its worst representation, the Mugen 5 still provide competitive cooling performance compare to some of the best in the market.

And the H100i v2 just have its CPU block tweaked for better clearance compatibility, a simplier/easier mounting system and to address the noise complaint, lower specs fans (2400-ish compare to the original ~2700rpm); therefore the v2 actually runs a bit warmer than the discontinued v1.
