Hey there Tom's community,
I am currently using a rig that I built in late 2011 but have upgraded many parts. Currently I'm using an Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti GPU and the original CPU I bought when I built my rig, the AMD Phenom II x4 955. I recently started playing Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning and after a while I noticed my FPS would immediately plummet. I thought it was thermal throttling but I monitored my sensors whilst playing and my GPU never went over 40° C. The CPU never went over 50° C. I searched around for a resolution and finally found one of the fixes to work for me, this being to set the process priority above normal, however this apparently needs to be done upon every instance of running the game. Based on this solution, do you think that I'm getting bottle-necked by my outdated CPU and should I upgrade to the AMD FX 8350? This appears to be the best CPU that is compatible with my motherboard. Thanks for any help.
