I wanted to buy a gaming PC on CraigList and have finalized 2 builds.

One is an :

Intel i5 7600k
MSI z270 Tomahawk MoBo
Gtx 1070 8GB Zotac Mini
8 GB DDR4 RAM HyperfuryX
250gb SSD Samsung Evo
1 TB HDD
Thermaltake 650W RGB PSU
NZXT S340

He wants $800 for it

Another PC is:

Ryzen 1700
ASUS Prime X370 Pro MoBo
GTX 1050 Ti 4 GB GPU
16 GB DDR4 RAM
500GB SSD
Supernova 650W 80+ PSU
Cooler Master Case Pro 5

He wants $750 for it

I want to be able to play and stream games and edit videos for me YouTube channel.

Please suggest which one I should go for.

If you want to get one of those rig and will not do any further upgrades:
Proc: Ryzen 1700 is the better one
GPU: GTX1070 is the better one
Ballance for gaming: 7600k + 1070 is the more ballanced, <--- I would pick this
Recommended RAM capacity is 16GB ...but 8GB is still acceptable.
Conclusion: pick the I5 7600k + 8GB + GTX1070

However, ...do not forget this:
The rig with Ryzen 7 1700 +16GB RAM is the far better choice, if you are willing to upgrade the graphic card.

This i5 build is much better for pure gaming but that cpu is no good for streaming modern games, it will have high usage with games alone.

If streaming is really important then you need more cores/threads (the Ryzen 1700). You will loose a big amount of gpu power by having the 1050Ti so will need to run much lower settings. Don't go with a 4 core i5 if you need to stream.

Thanks for your suggestions. I was thinking I would go with the Intel build. It will be easier for me to upgrade my CPU to an i7 and add a RAM. It should cost me $350 for the uograde.

If I go with Ryzen I will have to upgrade the GPU which will cost me atleast $450 to get a GTX 1070.

So I think the Intel build makes more sense.

I wonder first why the prices are so low. the Ryzen setup is well worth 1100$ new, so 850$ seems like a low ball to me.

but like the OP mentions the cost of video card running close to 400$ alone... yes Intel does make more sense I guess...

still weird about those prices being so low especially when a GTX 1070 sells alone on eBay for close to 500$.

*cough* Fallen off the truck special prices *cough*
