My airtel 4G LTE USB Dongle Uplink and downlink speeds are pathetic on Ubuntu 16.04. I think that the issue could be the Plan setting. On the screen I get a drop downlist giving an option only for i) default ii) my plan is not listed. And the only APN that works is airtelgprs.com...which surprisingly does not use LTE ...What should I try? I have made a complained to Airtel but have not got a reply in this week

Hi, I have the 4G dongle working on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, It would not work using the Airtel Sim on Huawei 3372 unlocked modem, though theoretically the dongle should work with any Telco 4G sim... It lead me to buying a 4G USB Dongle from Airtel though. This dongle has a separate Linux driver and one can install it with the included script.One can also compile it if 32bit Libs are loaded on the 64-bit OS...

3. I find that though the 4G LTE Dongle should give atleast 4 to 8Mbps, the best I got was 3.4 Mpbs DL and 2.5~3 Mbps UL, on some tests the UL was higher than DL.
IMHO, the Airtel Servers appear to be overloaded..." They tried some work on the cell covering locality where I live but it did not help significantly and they finally accepted the low speeds saying this is the best I could get..."
