Hey peeps,
I have a i7 6700k and when I stress test it at 100% load, it can peak around 82°C. I was just wondering if this is safe?
I have a H100i v2 (http://www.corsair.com/en-gb/hydro-series-h100i-v2-extreme-performance-liquid-cpu-cooler) and am fairly sure it shouldn't get to these temps? Even when I have the fans on max settings.

That's more than safe. 100% load in something like Aida 64 is extremely unrealistic and isn't even close to how demanding a game is. However, considering that you do have an AIO, I would check the voltage in your BIOS, also known as VCORE and that the cooler is situated properly and that it has enough thermal paste. You wanna apply about a pea sized dot of thermal paste and that your cooler is screwed down fully (should screw down just a bit further than what seems natural; about 15 degree turn after it stops screwing naturally).

I have checked the mounting screws and the cooler came with pre-applied paste, so shouldn't have to worry about that. Just gonna double check the voltage now. If thats okay, I shall just leave it as is. As long as it's not going to burn out any components anytime soon. Cheers for the help :)

EDIT:
So I'm not really sure what fixed it, but I moved a few cables around, mounted the cooler the right way up, added some more thermal paste and reset the BIOS to default settings. But now on 100% CPU use, it does not peak above 59°C.

Cheers for your help :)

yeah have same issue, i guess we lost the silicon lottery. I even set it adaptive mode 1.15-1.25 v, on water cooled and mx4 paste, on games it reaches 70º if stressed alot 73º-75º this is in summer, in winter max i seen was 65º. I think intel termal paste sucks too much, and the heat of grafic card dosent help either, realy im not in the mood to delid anything, maybe in 2-3 years.

My advice try to undervolt it to start from 1.15 and max 1.20, and see if things are better.
