So I just upgraded my computer to a i7-8700K processor with a new Motherboard, ram and EKWB 240G water cooling. I hooked everything up and I made my loop run from the pump to the GPU to the CPU to the radiator to the pump again. After hooking everything up I added the coolant that was provided by EKWB and 900ml of distilled water. Tested the pump and verified that there were no leaks or kinks. I fired up my system and the GPU was at 40c idle but the cpu was at 60-70c idle. I thought I didn’t add enough thermal compound so I take off the cpu block and added another x to the block. I’m using the notua thermal compound by the way. Adding the compound dropped the idle temps 10c but I think it’s still pretty toast idle temps. What can I do to resolve this? EKWB said the temps should be 50c or below. What can i do to resolve my high cpu temps.
