Can I safely power a GTX 1060 on my rig?

Hello, I just purchased my 1060 and worrying if my PSU is worth the risk of plugging it in.

PSU: CIT 480W (probably not a good PSU at all)
CPU: AMD FX 8320 (125W, that's a lot of W)
RAM: 2 x 4GB (DDR3, 1600MHz)
GPU: GTX 1060 FE
MOBO: M5A78L-M (not a great mobo)
Storage: 2TB External Portable Hard Drive (does this take more power than HDD?)

The PSU definitely doesn't seem great quality but it works. Is it enough to power all my parts? I have got myself worried, reading up that if a BAD quality PSU cannot power a rig it can potentially kill components like GPU (Which I cannot afford to replace, having just bought it)

Any help appreciated, thanks!

funny that is the model I was addressing earlier. it only has 276 watts of power. there is more amperage on the 5V and 3.3V Rails. a ton of power that you cannot use. this above all is a defining characteristic of a pee poor PSU...

Mine is the ATX 12V Model. This seems to be it: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CiT-480W-Black-Edition-PSU-12cm-Single-12v-CE-PFC-Model-480UB-PC-Power-Supply-/331510000422

Upgrade it is then. You suggested TXM 550W, and R_1 suggested the CX550M. Which one of the two should I pick? The prices seem to be very similar.

Thanks for the useful information. Starting to feel a bit worried with it running to type this now :D I'll quickly have a look at both suggested PSUs and upgrade. Thanks both, shame I can't give both the solution!

the TX550 is a more efficient unit, gold rated and I believe it has a longer warranty too (2 more years). if you can afford its the way to go.
if cash is short the CX550 is the way to go for a budget quality unit and a decent warranty at 5 years.
