whats more baffling is why is your internet at 1.2Mbps in the first place? your current speed is normal if you got a 50Mps plan. when you replugged in your ethernet cable, your internet connection settings refreshed automatically to its correct settings. someone mustve resetted your router as well, but you didnt refresh your side of the internet or been awhile since you had your last restart. like what @kanewolf mentioned. your cable connector might have some lose wires on it. you may want to purchase a new ethernet cat5/5e/6/6a cable.

That isn't baffling. The 50Mb/s is a baseless assumption. Not all of us have access to that speed and still others have much much faster speeds. Others don't have much money. Some can getfFiber, others cable and still others have to use satellite.

I have heard that unplugging and regplugging can help. Some claim a static charge but with a properly grounded system that's not likely. Why it helps is something only an expert can tell you.

so you would rather assume had a 10mbps plan then he got a free upgrade suddenly without knowing.
if he had a 50mbps plan from the start, he wouldve had his 6MB/s download speed currently from the beginning maybe he wasnt aware of he properly connected to his router in the first place.

No. I would rather ask the OP what speed do they receive from their ISP if that was relevant, which it is. Assuming doesn't help anything. Now we're off topic talking about your assumption. Not helpful.

What speed does your ISP plan offer? If you aren't getting that speed consistently your ISP needs to fix that. It may be as simple as an old cable like Kane suggested or something else. Contracts go both ways, if you're under one. The ISP has contractual obligations to meet.

@kanewolf im not man. when you get a 10mbps services u get 1.5MB/s dl speeds. to get 3x that. its a 50mbps plan w/ a 6MB/s dl speeds. he appartently has a 300mpbs plan with his current speedtest.

@aquielisunari you misread my first post man. i wasnt insulting his speed or whatever. and the OP misread as well when he replied he was broke.

i meant if he had lower speeds before, then its baffling if he was meant to have more speed. that was all.
