OK. So I own a 32 GB flash drive that transfers files at an average speed of 75 MB/s when I plug it into one of the two of my USB 3.0 ports. And I just bought a Samsung 128 GB thumb drive that whenever I plug it in SPECIFICALLY to a USB 3.0 slot, it transfers files at an average speed of 25-30 MB/s. It says on the packaging that this 128 GB thumb drive should be able to transfer at speeds of up to 150 MB/s.
And trust me, I've tried everything I could think of. I have Windows 10 and went onto Device Manager to see if there was a need for a driver upgrade. There wasn't. I reformatted it to NTFS instead of exFAT to see if that would do the trick. It didn't. In fact, it went slower. I even added a registry key that someone told another user in these forums to add to their registry in order to remove all "ghost drives", whatever that means! I even went to the properties of the drive and selected the "better performance" option and it didn't do much of anything. I even went back to the store I bought it from and tried to use a different 32gb thumb drive than the one I have and a different 128gb thumb drive than the one I bought to see if it was because the thumb drive themselves were different in storage capacity, and thought perhaps that's why it's slower, and basically every thumb drive I have tested aside from the 32gb one that I currently own are all transferring at a much slower speed than the 32gb drive I currently own. I need a real expert's opinion here because it's been driving me crazy!! Please hallllp!!!
