So right now, the chinese are doing the equivalent of all upgrading at once, once they are in the steady state cycle of upgrading every-so-often, there might be bit of a peak every 2? years or so, but that will smooth over time. However what this does mean is that the market for AMD and Nvidia has expanded dramatically, so for the same profit they can sell more at a lower price, or they can take the profit and use it to buffer losses, or invest in next gen development, which is getting more costly with each generation. So the Chinese have solved the problem of each generation become harder to justify in terms of development.
