Hello, I have had this nVidia GTX 980 reference card for roughly two years, and hadn't put much thought into it's performance until recently. I have noticed that many benchmarks performed with this card contained results superior to my own, and I for the life of my cannot figure out why. Games don't run as smoothly as it seems they should, and even Firestrike scores in 3DMark are much higher when others run the test than when I do. I have been messing with MSI Afterburner (I have never overclocked before, but I had read up on it first) for the last 3 hours trying to figure out if it's a clock speed issue, which it does not appear to be. Once my benchmarks are finished, the clock speeds during said tests are always the same regardless of what MSI Afterburner says. My drivers are up to date, and so is my software. Here are my full system specifications:

GTX 980 (non ti) reference card
intel core i7-6700k w/ cooler master hyper 212 evo cpu cooler (non overclocked)
GSkill 16 GB DDR4 3000 MHz RAM
ASRock z170 Pro4s Motherboard
EVGA Supernova 800 watt 80+ Gold PSU (less than a month old)
Windows 8.1 x64

Is it possible that there is a bottleneck somewhere? From what I have heard the 6700k should be more than enough to prevent bottlenecking with this card. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. My Firestrike score is constantly around 8,300 if that helps to give any sort of perspective. If I am missing anything crucial, I'd be happy to try to provide any necessary information.

Solution
Should not be any bottleneck. My experience has always been that if I compare my systems with firestrike I am on the lower end of compare able systems but I am happy with gaming performance.
