Kinda sounds silly, but reason I ask is that I found a decent deal on a Z370-A that I'd like to buy. However, guy said the reason he's selling it is because it's not compatible with his 7700K. Buddy's obviously clueless, but in further conversations, he told me his neighbor is actually a computer technician, who gave him the diagnosis by telling him firmware needed to be upgraded. Sounds like he's talking 6th-gen mobo with 7th-gen processor...
Anyway. None of this matters too much, unless one of those two clowns actually PUT the 7700K into the board. Or - does it...? Seller will ask the neighbor (starting to sound fishy a little...?) if the processor was physically installed or not.
Hence, my question - would anything be damaged? Let's assume worst case scenario, where 7700K was physically installed, and motherboard was hooked up to ATX power and power-on was attempted. Would there be damage? My guess is : no, seeing as it's still the same physical socket, and seller did send me a picture of the actual board's socket, and pins looked good to me. Just want to make sure I'm not forgetting anything.
