I know this is a dumb question but anyways here's what I know: I have a direct physical connection to the Router. WiFi is still provided and we get our internet through SPECTRUM (what Time Warner Cabel turned into.) I generally get around 30mbs but it can be more than that.

If your modem uses a phone line, it is DSL.
If your modem uses a coaxial cable, it is cable.

As far as what type of network connection, I don't understand. You should either have a modem connected to a router, or a 2-in-1 Router/Modem. They are all pretty much standard, categorized as a SoHo (Small office Home office) type of router.
