I was asked to go to a friends house the other day to access the WebGUI of their new fibre router.
A Technicolour something or other, They was Ted to change the SSID from TCNq12345xyz or what eve the default was to something more descriptive
They could not access it at 1921.168.1.1. They were only trying via wifi connected devices and for some reason could not get on...so I went up connected via hardware and got it done.
They had all their home devices connected...so three mobile phones...Samsung, and other android devices, X 2 apple MacBooks and a toshiba laptop. All connected to the WiFi via the old SSID and password.
So I changed the SSID and the password to AstridHouse and password to the names of their kids.
I then logged on to the Wifi with my laptop, with the new SSID and pwd. My laptop had never connected to the original default SSID...It asked for pwd and I connected successfully.
Now this is the weird thing...all the other devices be they Samsung, or Apple or Toshiba or Huwea....they all stayed connected to the WiFi network ..despite the SSID and password change.
What sort of mystical sorcerecy is this that propergated the new SSID and pwd to the old devices.
