I've just finished assembling a Ryzen 5 build and I'm getting nothing. The fans spin and the water pump buzzes but apart from that its dead. I've breadboarded it and it was still the same. I replaced the PSU and it was the same so I got a replacement mobo as well and its still the same.

Removing the CPU cooler and using a laser thermometer confirms the CPU is getting warm when its powered on. I've checked, double checked and triple checked that the CPU is seated correctly. It doesn't even beep when I pull out the RAM. Does anyone have any ideas? PSU provides more than enough juice and I can't see two mobos being faulty. I know that CPU's are usually quite robust but I'm starting to wonder as its the only thing I haven't changed!

Asus B350 Prime Mobo
CoolerMaster 240V Water Cooler
Corsair 2 x 4GB RAM (can't remember exact model but with no RAM it should beep regardless)
Ryzen 5 1600
Gigabyte B700H PSU
OCZ 256GB SSD

Haven't connected the GPU yet, I know Ryzen doesn't have on board graphics but if I can just get it to beep or show any signs of life other than the fans spinning it'd be a start.

Yes that's pretty much the one. Already tried with no RAM on the old motherboard that I returned thinking it was faulty and this one but still get no beeps. Would seem odd to have two faulty boards, even if they were delivered by the worst courier company in the world!

MERGED QUESTION
Question from MarkA67UK : "Computer still won't boot, Ryzen 5"

Still having an issue getting my new build to boot. I'm now onto my 3rd mobo which actually has debug lights! If I try one stick of RAM in slot 2 (as per the manual) the CPU debug light stays on but if I swap to the other stick, it comes on for 5 seconds, goes off and then the DRAM debug light comes on and stays on instead. I did read that Corsair RAM has an issue with Ryzen so not sure if that's the problem!

Have tried leaving the computer for a while as apparently new Ryzens take a good few minutes to initialize. But even after 10 minutes nothing has happened! Tried resetting the CMOS by shorting the pins and also removing the battery but that didn't change anything.

Mobo: MSI B350 Mortar V 1.1 (previous motherboards were ASUS B350 Prime Plus)
CPU: Ryzen 5 1600 (2nd processor as RMAed first CPU)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master 240V
RAM: 2 x 4GB Corsair CMK8GX4M2A2400C16 Vengeance LPX
GPU: Sapphire Radeon HD 7750 1GB DDR5 (just for testing switching to a different card)
PSU: Tried Corsair GS800 and a brand new Gigabyte B700H

With it breadboarded, the CPU and DRAM illuminate with just the CPU and fan installed. Plugging the one stick of RAM in just results in the CPU debug light staying on, removing that stick and putting the other one in results in the CPU light illuminating and going out after a couple of seconds and then the DRAM light coming on and staying lit instead

It could just be that the speaker doesn't work or is not compatible. I've tried reseating the CPU loads of times, the CPU gets hot when the cooler isn't attached and according to the manual, it doesn't test the RAM (other than illuminating to say its missing) until the CPU test has completed so if the CPU was at fault the DRAM light shouldn't illuminate at all

It's a Corsair, exact model is listed in one of the previous posts ... Just removed the CPU and started it up and it doesn't go to the DRAM light with the CPU completely removed so it definitely has to pass the CPU test before going to the next "test"

It's not listed on the MSI website under the reported Ryzen RAM section but it is on PC Part Picker and on Corsairs website. Not sure if that makes a difference? Just seems odd that with one stick it passes the CPU test but fails the RAM test and with the other stick it doesn't pass the CPU test. I've put it all back in the case now to prevent it getting damaged, doesn't make any difference either way. Oh and to anyone who hates untidy cables, will sort cable management out once its all working as there's no point making it pretty if its gotta come out again!

Is there a way I can find out what BIOS version I am running? The motherboard says MS-7A37 VER 1.1 on it but I can't find anything about the BIOS that this version of the board has.

I'm not sure how I mark this as solved so if an admin could do it that'd be great. It turned out to be a bad or unsupported stick of RAM. I reluctantly went and bought another 4GB stick from Maplins made by a company called "Hypertec" I was quite hesitant as I'd never heard of them but weirdly the the BIOS reports it as Crucial RAM so maybe it's just rebadged.

I am currently updating the BIOS with the latest version (it was a year old) and once that's done I'll swap the RAM round again and see if it now runs with the Corsair sticks. (In fact as I typed this it finished and loaded Windows from the SSD)
