Hi.
My 6 year old pc needs an upgrade and i have lost track on new hardware components soi'm lost so to speak.
Pc is only used for Overwatch game and photo editing.

Budget is around 300$ and the upgrade can be anything, cpu ram, what ever.
Current system.

Gigabyte GA-990XA-UD3
AMD Phenom(tm) II X6 1055T Processor (clcoked to 3360.0 MHz)
8 gb ddr3 ram
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 (stock speed)
OCZ - 225GB SSD
1 - TB HD
60 hz monitor - samsung

Thank you
Much appreciate any answer

Solution
the most budget friendly solution:
buy used i5 / i7 : 4670K / 4690K , 4770-4790 / 4770K-4790K with H97 (for non K cpu) / Z97 (for K cpu) motherboard
and lower the voltage of your memory via bios to 1.5V .
this would be reasonable upgrade (i would not go any cheaper/lower)
another option would be to keep your ddr3 memory and only buy some older i7 and compatible motherboard .

ideally you shoud get even faster memory modules if possible since ryzen loves fast memory:

Even a cheaper 4 core ryzen is an upgrade.

If that RAM is from the period of the 1055t then it might be higher voltage than intel would like, perhaps 1.85V

agreed technically it is:
but for saving 30-50 dollars it is not worth it to settle for 1400/1500x 4 cores and 8 threads cpu
instead of 6 cores and 12 threads r5 1600 .

highly unlikely , but it is true: intel does not like even 1.65V memory modules , ideally it should be 1.5V

Thx guys.
around
I understand its an old machine and need a big upgrade to fill modern needs so perhaps it should be around the 440$. But its so annoying when my only interest is 1 game and Image editing :) !!!!!
Regrading the ram its 1.65v
XMP profile XMP-1600
Specification PC3-12800
Voltage level 1.650 Volts
Min Cycle time 1.250 ns (800 MHz)

Overwatch runs quite poorly on phenom II x4's and x6's since their single core performance is so low.

hi.
Yes i want better performance in overwatch with higher settings.
Also better performance in Lightroom and photoshop would be nice.
After the answers here I’ve been quite interested in a used i5 4xxxk with DDR3 1883

My current ram is 1333.

If I dare to buy used it’s possible to get a combo i5k with Mobo and ram in my budget. That’s pretty cheap in my opinion.

If you are buying other ram anyways then there is little point in going to a used i5.

allright.

Ive been researching the past days and thanks to the replys here i found a place to start.

I have looked at an order...
I have a question, if it makes (in my case) a big difference to get 2x4GB ram vs 2x8GB ram.

MOBO: ASUS H110M-A/M.2
CPU: INTEL Pentium G4400 3.3Ghz
RAM: Kingston HyperX FURY Black 8GB Kit (2x4GB) 2133MHz DDR4 Non-ECC CL14 DIMM

thanks

Don't get a g4400 it's just a dual core and that would actually be a downgrade.

At least get a g4560 or ryzen 1200.

I have concluded that my hardware is to old for an "upgrade".

I probably will spent around 400$ on new system... ram, cpu and mobo.
There is so much to choose from at that price point so i have not decided yet.
Most likely will be an intel though, just for the sake of change.
i3 8th gen maybe and 3200 mhz ram.

Thanks anyway guys..

Cheers

Might want to consider zen+ which launches in april. The 8th gen i3's are kinda bad value atm due to you having to get a z370 board.
