Gtx 1050 ti or gtx 1060 6GB?

I was going to go with the 1060 for overall better performance but one of my friends told me there is no major differentiation between the two. He said I should just get the 1050 ti because I would be wasting my money on a 1060. Is there better performance with the 1060 and should I get it? I'm aware of the extreme overpriced GPU's right now due to the miners.

Do you know what the base price of a 6GB is? I don't want to accidentally buy an overpriced one. Also, do you know when prices might start dropping?

Base price is very very high , don't see them dropping till mining craze fades.
