Hi everyone, I will be upgrading my CPU soon (I7-4790), and I am not sure which one of those I should get.

Most of the PC usage is for gaming. Which one will do better ? (Also good for future proof)

Note: Not going to Overclock anything.

If you mean i7-8700k (it's over my budget), and 8600k isn't available in my country.

The 4790 works good but I want to upgrade my RAM and motherboard (supports 4th,5th generation and DDR3 ), that's why i want to get a new CPU too

Honestly, unless you're going to a CPU with additional cores, I don't see much of a marginal gain from having DD4 RAM and a 7700k/1700x. Yes, they're faster, but it's a very small difference in gaming. Unless you're doing serious, time-sensitive, workstation tasks regularly, you're not getting much of a marginal benefit for a $500-$600 upgrade here,

For gaming, the i7-7700K will be better than the ryzen 1700x.
The single thread rating which most games depend on for the 7700K is 2582, the 1700X is 1877.
By comparison, your i7-4790 is 2285.
Actually, it would be cheaper to do your upgrade to the i7-4790K which has about the same specs as the 7700k plus you do not need a new motherboard.
