So i have tried many different methods to get at least type on my ps4, however nothing works, i tried direct connection with the cable, evem dmz, its still is type 3.

I live on student housing out of campus so there is only a conection on my wall, dont need a modem, maybe that part of the problem.

Any ideas?

When you do NAT, you use 1 public IP address to represent a bunch of private IP addresses (due to shortage of IPv4 addresses). This works fine for connections that start inside the private network. The router remembers who started the connection and forwards data accordingly. The problem is with connections initiated on the internet. Which computer/device should the router send the data to? We circumvent this with port forwarding (where specific traffic goes to a specific computer). The issue is you are probably not the only one in your dorm with a PS4. If the admin sends all PS4 data to you, the others will complain.

The solution ... IPv6. Everyone gets their own address. Unfortunately that won't work for you because the PS4 does...
